The Departed

The Departed is a superb film which takes place in an Irish neighborhood in South Boston. Matt Damon stars as Colin Sullivan, a young criminal working for Frank Costello, an Irish mafia figure played by Jack Nicholson. Costello assigns Sullivan to infiltrate the Boston police department. Leonardo DeCaprio plays a member of the Boston police department, who simultaneously is assigned to infiltrate the mob syndicate run by Costello. Both the mob syndicate and the police department soon realize there's a mole in their organization. Both mole's paths cross in a fantastic, interesting, and somewhat complicated and violent tale of deceit, murder, and mayhem. The Departed is filled with great lead actors as well as supporting actors such as Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin, Martin Sheen, and Anthony Anderson. All of the actors are at the top of their game in this film, and Martin Scorsese deserves an Oscar as Best Director, which he will most likely win. This is one of the best films of the year. This is what going to the movies is all about.
